April 2026 · For false positives, wrongful suspensions, and genuine user appeals
In 2026, X's automated systems are flagging more real accounts than ever — long-dormant accounts that suddenly become active, multi-device logins, cross-language replies, and organic engagement spikes all trigger false positives. Most suspensions in this category can be reversed. Here's the full process.

Step 1: Identify your suspension type
When you try to log in, X will usually show a reason. Two scenarios:
- Locked account: Verify your phone number or email. Most resolve in minutes without a formal appeal.
- Suspended account: Requires a written appeal. Follow the steps below.
Official reference: help.x.com/en/managing-your-account/suspended-x-accounts
Step 2: Submit your appeal
Use the appeal form on desktop (log into the suspended account first if possible): https://help.x.com/en/forms/account-access/appeals
Cadence: once every 3–5 days. Rewrite each submission from scratch — copy-pasting the same text gets deprioritized as spam. Keep the tone professional and factual. Cover these points:
- You are a real individual user; all activity was performed manually
- The account had low activity for an extended period before you started engaging more
- No automation tools, bots, third-party apps, or bulk actions were used
- The suspension appears to be a false positive triggered by a sudden but genuine increase in normal human activity
- You are willing to complete identity verification
Appeal template — rewrite the angle each time:
Dear X Support Team,
I am appealing the suspension of my account @username for inauthentic behaviors. I believe this is an error and respectfully request a manual review.
My account had very low activity for several months — minimal interactions and a small follower count. I recently started engaging more because I wanted to connect with others authentically and grow organically. I left thoughtful comments on content that genuinely interested me, sometimes in Japanese when engaging with Japanese-language posts. All activity was performed manually on my personal devices. I did not use any automation tools, bots, or third-party apps.
This appears to be an automated false positive: a sudden but entirely genuine increase in normal activity after a long period of low engagement. I fully respect X's policies and am happy to complete identity verification or provide any additional information needed.
Thank you for your time. @username
Step 3: Follow up while you wait
You'll receive an auto-confirmation email after submitting. Typical timelines: 1–3 days at the fastest, 1–2 weeks in most cases. Some accounts require 3–10 spaced appeals before being restored. Check your spam and promotions folders daily for emails containing "restored," "unsuspended," or "Your account is now active."
Got a "restored" email but still suspended? That's a caching delay — wait 24–72 hours, clear your browser cache, and try logging in from a different device.
If you've heard nothing after 5+ days, submit a fresh appeal and mention it's your second (or third) attempt with no update yet.
Step 4: Avoid getting suspended again
- Stay low-key for the first 1–2 weeks after restoration — no sudden spikes in activity
- Keep replies to 10–20 per day, spread across different times
- Post original content regularly rather than only replying to others
- When replying in a non-primary language, keep it contextual and genuine — avoid anything that reads as bulk or templated
- Avoid hammering the same List across multiple devices simultaneously
⚠️ Do not create a new account to get around the suspension (ban evasion). X detects this via IP, device fingerprint, and behavioral patterns. The new account will likely be suspended too — often faster and with less recourse. Focus on appealing your original account.
The "inauthentic behaviors" false positive is one of the more recoverable suspension types. Accounts that went from dormant to organically active are a classic misclassification. Consistent, rewritten appeals over 2–3 weeks have a reasonable success rate — it's worth the effort.
